Sonja Smole Možina, female, is a Professor of Food Microbiology and Food Safety and leader of the research group. Her research interests include food microbiology, microbial stress response and resistance with impact of food safety, bioactive components from plant origin, including by-products and waste materials from food and related industries. She has published over 50 research articles in peer reviewed (SCI) journals, 5 reviews, 33 book chapters (in monographies, university textbooks).
Professor Barbara Jeršek, female, is a professor of Food Hygiene and Toxicology with over 25 years’ experience working with food microbiology and food technology. Her research activities have been focused on natural antimicrobial compounds and their use in food quality and safety.
Meta Sterniša, female, was awarded as the best student on Veterinary Medicine study, but now she is finishing PhD in Food Science and Technology (Reducing microbiological contamination of common carp (C. carpio) meat). Although still a student she has in co-authorship already 6 SCI publications.
Katarina Šimunović, female, finished MSc of Microbiology, now she is PhD student in the field of microbial interactions in the food and environment. Her MSc topic was published in PlosOne in 2015 and has already more than 20 citations.
